Code of Conduct Plan of Action - Remaining Items

This issue highlights the last remaining items of the Code of Conduct Plan of Action. The 3 remaining items have been broken down below with overviews of their current states. Related issues that are open for each item have been included as sub-issues.

Item 3 should be completed last.

• Item 1: Update instructions and checklists for onboarding and post-graduation

  • Sub-issue 1: Update onboarding and post-graduation checklists to match new CoC policy #1255 (comment) → The new CoC policy has been merged so this process can resume
  • Sub-issue 2: Provide clearer instructions on how onboarding projects should adopt the CoC #1251 → The new CoC policy states “Projects joining the foundation that already have a code of conduct will need to adopt the OpenJSF's CoC within three (3) months. Projects that don't already have a code of conduct operate under the OpenJSF's CoC as soon as they enter incubation.”
    • What constitutes “adopting the code”? Full replacement of project’s original CoC, adding in clause acknowledging OpenJSF's CoC, other?
    • How does a project show they have adopted the code?

• Item 2: Update Contributor Covenant

  • Sub-issue 1: Go from 2.0 → 2.1
    • Relevant PRs/Issues: Update Contributor Covenant Code of Conduct to v2.1 #851; Decide CoC upstream version and modifications #1049
  • Sub-issue 2: Clarify definition of “project” used with a preamble. “Project” is to be interpreted as representing the whole OpenJSF community

• Item 3: Move CoC to a .github repo @ljharb

  • Sub-issue 1: Assess potential impact for OpenJSF projects that are not part of this org prior to move
